Research Associate I - Functional Genomics

Ranomics is a functional genomics biotechnology company based in Toronto, Canada. Since 2015, Ranomics has been generating novel functional genomics tools for accelerating research and development for synthetic biology, protein engineering and drug discovery research. We are looking for a brilliant and talented researcher to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the development of our VERG platform, Ranomics’ functional genomics screening platform. The candidate will play a key role in applying the VERG platform in genomics and personalized medicine research.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Develop and perform high-throughput gene editing experiments across cell models.

  • Experiment with next generation gene editing technologies and optimize standard protocols across systems

  • Conduct high-throughput genotyping-phenotyping experiments using the VERG platform

  • Design and implement novel functional assays that are compatible with the VERG platform

  • Perform basic bioinformatic analyses and NGS data analysis.

  • Coordinate with product and business development colleagues to convert scientific knowledge and insights into client facing material.

  • Record and maintain detailed notes regarding hypotheses, record of results and experimental plans. 

  • Represent Ranomics at scientific and academic conferences. 

  • Generate scientific figures and graphical representation of all experimental results. 

  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge with relevant scientific and technical developments.

  • Promote a safe and positive work environment for all team members in the laboratory.

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualities:
  • has a Ph.D degree in molecular biology, genomics, cell biology or a related field.

  • Working experience in gene editing techniques (i.e. CRISPR-Cas9) 

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with great attention to details and lab notebook documentation. 

  • Superb writing and communication skills.
